What is the inspiration behind this ruby pendant? Curious about the inspiration behind this necklace? We wanted to create a line of staples that could be worn everyday. We wanted to make sure that these pieces are both timeless and effortless. That’s why we created the basics collection. Our basics collection features single stone necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings. All of our designs come in a diamond. This single stone style similar to this one comes in a diamond necklace, blue sapphire necklace, and a emerald necklace. Those styles were so popular that we decided to add this new arrival to the mix! Of course, we can make this with any stone.

What other gemstone should I make this necklace in? This necklace is a great birthstone necklace. It can be done with pretty much any gemstone! Amethyst and aquamarine are a big color for spring. Emeralds and sapphires are the most common gemstone pendants. Of course, you can never go wrong with a diamond. At Alexis Jae, we only make fine jewelry. That is why we don’t work with cubic zirconia or moisanite.

What other shapes can I make this single stone ruby necklace? As part of our basics collection, we have a diamond heart necklace and a diamond baguette necklace. What length should I wear my solitaire ruby necklace? Most of our necklaces come with a 17” chain that can be adjusted to 16”. We’ve found this to be a great length for most women. If you have another necklace that you want to layer it with, we suggest making it 2” shorter or longer.

What type of necklace should I layer this single ruby necklace with? When creating a great neck stack, it’s important to mix shapes. Since this is a round ruby, try to incorporate a longer shape next - think a bar necklace. Rubies are a deep red, so not all stones go with it. We’d stay away from emeralds. Pink sapphire and diamonds pair beautifully with rubies. Also, this is a cable chain necklace. We love pairing other types of chains with it such as a paperclip necklace or a tennis necklace. We prefer this necklace as one of the middle or longer layers and reccomend a different piece for a choker necklace.

What is the difference between rubies and garnets? Rubies have a more deep red color and are more durable than garnet. These qualities make rubies more expensive compared to garnets of the same quality and size.
